For more effective vessel return

As the owner of the Brunch Electronik music and musical events production company, François Jozic was surprised that in Spain reusable cups were not yet being used at major events, as was the case in other European countries such as France, where he is originally from. It was 2012 and the entrepreneur did not hesitate to hire a French supplier to incorporate the service of reusing cups in the events that the production company organized in the country. However, logistical problems arising from the distance from France led Jozic to create his own service within the Centris group, to which the production company and the company created for this new mission belong.

With the initial name of Re-Cup, the first client of this company dedicated to the reuse of cups in large events and hospitality was the Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys de Montjuïc, in 2015. In this decade of life, the company estimates that it has managed to reuse more than 15 million cups, avoiding more than 2,000 tons of single-use waste per year. Coinciding with the tenth anniversary, Jozic has renamed its creature, which now has Encore! as its trade name, from French again.

Encore! works mainly for music festivals in Spain and Portugal, and its clients include the Palau Sant Jordi, Estrella Damm, Sónar and Cruïlla. The entrepreneur has opened the business to sporting events and explains that he has already reached an agreement with Futbol Club Barcelona. "We take care of everything related to the delivery and return of the glasses; this way the event organizer can take care of his business, which is to serve drinks," says the company founder, who adds that a large event involves hiring up to twenty people.

The company has invested half a million euros in machinery for the collection of the cups and in a system that digitizes the return of the money. "Since covid we no longer pay with cash and the payment and return of the euro had become a problem. Now what we do is charge the euro only if the glass is not returned. Thanks to this and the new machinery we have managed to reduce queues and workload, increase return figures and control the life of the glasses," explains Jozic.

With an annual turnover of 2.5 million euros, the company manages more than 450 events a year, produces more than 15 million reusable cups and washes more than 2 million cups a year. The containers are manufactured in Spain, the company has its offices in Barcelona and the operational and washing center in Viladecans. In total, it has a workforce of 13 people.

Encore! was founded ten years ago by François Jozic, who owns a production company.
